Horndean Remembrance Service – 8th November 2026
This November, Horndean Parish Council will bring the community together to reflect, remember and show gratitude for the British and Commonwealth men and women who lost their lives, served and continue to serve in the armed forces. The Parish Council have worked closely with local organisations to coordinate the annual Remembrance Parade and Service.
On Sunday 8 November, youth groups, local organisations and bands will be involved in the Remembrance Parade, scheduled to depart from 1st Horndean Scout hut at 10.15am. The parade will march to the War Memorial on Portsmouth Road, where a service will be held and wreaths laid to honour those who served.
Road closures will be in effect to ensure the safe passage of the parade, as well as the protection of spectators. Horndean Parish Council ask that the public are mindful of the closures and are polite and respectful to their staff and volunteers that secure the closures.
A road closure order for has been granted for the following:
- to close Blendworth Lane from MOT and Service World to Havant Road for 09.45am to 1.00pm,
- Portsmouth Road from the junction with Five Heads Road to the London Road/Portsmouth Road Roundabout from 10.00am to 12.00am
- London Road from 4 London Road to the London Road/Portsmouth Road Roundabout from 10.00am to 12.00pm
- Havant Road from just past the entrance to the Red Lion to London Road/Portsmouth Road roundabout from 10.00am to 12.00pm
- Five Heads Road from the junction at Portsmouth Road to the junction with Catherington Lane from 10.00am to 12.00pm
The Chair of Horndean Parish Council, Councillor Andrew Redding said “The commemorations are an important time for our community to come together and remember the sacrifices made by many”.
